About the café

café deilig is in the garden behind H.C. Andersen's House, in the round wooden houses with green roofs. Inside there are high ceilings, light wood and windows all the way round, so the garden is part of your table whatever the season.

We are open from morning until late afternoon all year round, and on Friday and Saturday evenings in autumn and winter. Come for brunch, a smørrebrød lunch, coffee and cake, or a whole evening with eleven servings.

How we cook

Everything is made from scratch in our own kitchen. The bread, the butter, the pickles and the desserts. We buy locally where we can, and choose organic where it makes a difference to the taste. The menu changes with the seasons, because the produce does.

We are in H.C. Andersen's Garden, and you can taste it on the menu. Every dish is named after a fairy tale, so you can be drawn into H.C. Andersen's magical world.

Private events

Outside our regular opening hours, we open the café for private events only. Birthdays, weddings, anniversaries and company parties. Read about private events.
